Efficient Refrigerators

Replacing an old refrigerator with a new refrigerator resulted in saving about 7 kilowatt-hours of energy per day.

The new refrigerator, slightly larger than the old model, cost $999. (Westinghouse 610L Side by Side Fridge WSE6100WA - Thank you, Harvey Norman)

The household's 1 kilowatt solar photovoltaic system produces about 6 kilowatt-hours of energy per day.

This solar energy system cost about $8,000.

Carbon dioxide emission cuts from energy savings are greater than the cuts from substituting renewable energy for fossil fuel energy.

These cuts, through energy savings, were achieved at one-eighth of the cost of the solar photovoltaic system.
